    An NIL activity involves the use of a student-athlete’s name, image, or likeness for promotional purposes by a third-party not associated with the NCAA or an NCAA institution such as: Social media influencing and other promotions Personal appearances at businesses, conferences, camps, parties TV ads, radio ads, print ads Endorsements of a third-party Student-athlete-run camps and private lessons Autographs Sale of student-athlete owned apparel and personal items Student-athlete run businesses
  • What can student-athletes promote your business through NIL?
    Student-athletes can use social media promotions, autograph signings, making appearances, camps or lessons, and other similar events in which a business, brand, product, or service is promoted.
  • How can businesses or individuals engage with student-athletes regarding NIL?
    On INFLCR, you will be able to contact the student-athlete through the message portal or post business opportunities on a virtual bulletin board. Register your business at TheChomp.org
  • What resources are available for businesses?
    The Chomp is a custom-built NIL registry for University of Florida student-athletes to connect with businesses, collectives, donors, alumni fans and others looking to work with the Gators. Registered parties will utilize the platform to search and initiate conversations with University of Florida student-athletes to work toward a NIL deal. Once a NIL deal has been completed, the business will use the The Chomp to create a transaction and produce a direct payment to the student-athlete. Businesses, collectives or individuals can now register at TheChomp.org.
  • May a student-athlete receive NIL compensation based on the student-athlete’s athletic performance at Ole Miss?
    No
  • What kinds of promotions are prohibited?
    Student-athletes may not enter a NIL contract to receive compensation for the advertisement, endorsement, or promotion of the the following: Gambling Sports Betting Controlled Substances Marijuana, Tobacco, or Alcohol Alternative or Electronic nicotine product or delivery system Performance Enhancing Supplements Adult Entertainment Any Product Inconsistent with Values & Mission of the University or Reflects Adversely on the University or Athletics

  • May student-athletes have representation?
    Student-athletes are permitted to retain agents or advisors for the purposes of providing counsel and assistance for NIL contracts. Student-Athletes are required to submit the name of their agent or advisor via email to the University of Florida compliance department. Agents or advisors for student-athlete NIL contracts must be registered with the University of Florida Office of Compliance and the State of Florida.
  • May student-athletes use branded attire or material during promotional events (e.g., student-athlete filming endorsement ad while wearing UF hat)?
    Per state law, student-athletes may not enter into a contract for use of their NIL that uses the licensed marks or logos of the University UNLESS the University has provided written permission in advance of signing the NIL contract.
  • May international student-athletes utilize NIL?
    International student-athletes should NOT enter into any NIL agreements without the guidance from the University of Florida Athletic Department to discuss and prevent any complications with student visa/immigration issues.
  • May a student-athlete receive NIL compensation based on the student-athlete’s athletic performance at Ole Miss?

  • What is NIL?
    In accordance with NCAA and Florida state law, intercollegiate student-athletes are now allowed to earn compensation for their name, image, and likeness (NIL) for commercial activities, including endorsements through traditional and social media, appearances, entrepreneurial activities, in-kind deals, autographs and more. In addition, intercollegiate student-athletes have the ability to retain an agent relating to this compensation.
  • What are the NCAA rules regarding NIL?
    Generally speaking, all NIL activities are permitted, as they follow these four guidelines: There must be quid pro quo attached to an NIL deal essentially requiring a student-athlete to do an activity in order to receive compensation. That activity cannot be tied to athletic performance such as statistical achievements, wins, or awards. That activity cannot be contingent upon the student-athlete committing to the university that the collective supports or tied to enrollment. Institutions do not provide compensation in exchange for the use of a student-athlete’s NIL. NCAA rules also require student-athletes to follow their state law or institutional policy if there is no existing state law governing NIL activities.
  • Does the University of Florida have an NIL POLICY?
    Yes – The University of Florida has a Student-Athlete Name, Image and Likeness Activity Policy as well as more information on their website.
  • Does Florida have a NIL state law?

  • How will The Chomp be governed and administered?
    The Chomp has a Board of Directors whose purpose will be to organize the entity, raise funds, and review and ratify annual audits. The Board of Directors will not be paid by The Chomp for ANY purpose in furtherance of the NIL activities.
  • How will payments be made to athletic teams and/or players?
    The Chomp utilizes Opendorse, the leading operating software provider for collectives. This software allows student-athletes to provide compliance reporting to the University of Florida and the NCAA (if requested) as well as serves as the way to distribute funds to student-athletes after they have completed their NIL obligation.
